St. Patrick's Day Storm: 3/17/2016

What a shock it was to open the door and step in snow up to the top of my boots. The ground was literally BARE the night before, and after just coming back from feet in the sand, I was NOT too excited to scrape my car off. The only bonus about a storm in March is look what it left us: It a beautiful winter wonderland.
I was wishing I had a chance to go for a drive and get some cool pictures, but I only had time to venture out to my back yard, so this is all you get. Go check out Brita or Natalie's blogs for some really great pictures!

Spring Break 2016

This year over break Morgan, Miranda, Brianna, Laura & I met Miss & Kari in Florida. We could not have handpicked better weather if we wanted to- it was gorgeous. We soaked up the sun every single day; we did nothing. It was absolutely glorious. And then we came back to reality with the St. Patrick's day storm last week. I guess all good things come to an end right? The Spring countdown is on!

We started with a trip to Milwaukee where we caught our first flight. Never mind the fact that 3 of the 5 pulled an all-nighter the night before, and 2 got hardly any sleep at all.

Can you guess which ones pulled all nighters:

Most of the pictures we took were on phones, so I don't actually have that many.  The pool:

Our condo faced the intercoastal side rather than the Ocean, but we spent enough time at the beach not to care.

The elevator in this place was old, and SKETCHY to put it nicely. There were signs about it breaking down and not pushing buttons... we were on the 7th (top) floor, but we (Lois & I especially) took the stairs most of the time. It did end up breaking down once when we were there.. thank goodness none of us were in there.

We were basically in a retirement community, so the beach was pretty bare a lot of the time!

Unfortunately Miss & Kari couldn't stay a whole week- they ended up going home on Tuesday. One group shot before they left:

This picture just about sums these 2 up:
They may or may not have gotten locked out on the balcony one night...

There isn't really much to tell about some of this- every day was about the same. Wake up- some of the runners ran, put on sunscreen, go out to the pool/beach by 9:00am, come in at lunch to eat, and go back out until 4:00. Catch a sunset. Go back inside, eat some more, visit some more, play a few games, go to bed. Repeat. Literally, it was one of the most relaxing vacations ever. We did take our crappy Nissan rental car (literally the thing had crank down windows... that's a story for another day) to Walmart and target a few times in the evening when we ran out of snacks or needed ice cream. Basically we just enjoyed the warm weather!

I got a few funny looks standing in the water to take these:

......we had a lot of laughs.

Almost a few too many... It was hard to keep the camera from shaking for this beauty:

I think we all needed a good week to recover after a week of Miranda & Morgan together. ;)

My only regret: every single morning some of us would walk down the beach. Every single morning I wished I had my camera, and every single morning I decided I would get up and go tomorrow. I waited until the end of the week and of course the last 2 mornings were cloudier so I missed the blue sky and blue water I was hoping for.

Happy Wednesday.

Bare Bluff

Back in October Brianna, Miranda & I took a Sunday drive to Bare Bluff and Brockway to see the colors at their peak.

Copper Harbor- Top of Brockway

We finished our "Sunday Funday" with a jump in Lake Superior at Eagle River. Imagine that- In October!

Gram's Fall Color Tour

Gram took me on a drive one evening to take pictures- we were hoping for a little more color but everything hadn't completely changed yet. We stopped at quite a few places.. big traverse, Gay, Tobacco River.

Thanks, Gram! :)

Boundary Waters Camping

At the end of September Laura, Miranda, Morgan, Lydia, Brooke, Brianna D. & I met Miss, Stephanie & Kari at the North Shore for a quick Canoeing/camping weekend. It was one of the best camping trips to date. We met them in Duluth and all drove north together.

WARNING: there are some very groggy, ungroomed people pictured in the photos below

At one point there was some sort of money argument (it may or may not have lasted over an hour...). Once that was settled we took off to go canoeing. We had one too many for them to sell us a permit, but there was another lake we were able to go on together in 3 canoes.

The best part of the whole day was this:
The lady renting us the canoes gave us a tip about a hike to do- there was a small patch we could pull our canoes up and follow the path where we come to the road, and then take another path up to a short but beautiful view- honeymoon bluff. So we huffed and we puffed along, taking in the scenes. Finally we found the clearing. After piling everyone out & stopping for a few bathroom breaks, we trekked up the trail. the kicker was when we got to the road- we were directly across from the campground entrance. We drove 20 minutes, and then canoed for an hour just to come back to the campground and do a hike that we could have walked to in 3 minutes. Imagine the looks on some of the faces... It was too priceless. We did the hike anyway and ate our lunchables before bringing the canoes back. Morgan was the only one who brought a phone for photos:

I think these two images sum up the weekend: A LOT of laughs.

The moose viewing trail... though we were way to loud to dream of seeing one...
